To ensure future dated salaries are activated on their start dates and not before:

Go to the Installed Packages page:
In Salesforce Lightning Experience, go to Setup > Platform Tools > Apps > Packaging > Installed Packages.
In Salesforce Classic interface, go to Setup > App Setup > Installed Packages

Select Configure against Sage People Human Capital Management.

On the Configure Details page:

Check Use Future Dated Salary

Set a time to run a daily batch to activate salaries on their start dates in Handle Future Dating

Select Save.
