Simplified accrual rule setup with Create Absence Accrual wizard

In Sage People Time, an Absence Accrual Rule defines a category of absence or vacation. To offer you flexibility in setting up Absence Accrual Rules to meet the needs of your organization and the requirements of the countries where you operate, Absence Accrual Rules have a large number of fields and options, and understanding how they work together can be complex. Sage People Winter 22 release introduced a wizard style Create Absence Accrual Rule tool to guide you through defining the core settings.

Create Absence Accrual Rule wizard enables you to define the following settings for an absence reason:

  • accrual rate and frequency

  • reset settings and date

  • carry over limits and expiry

Create Absence Accrual Rule also creates one Seniority to describe the entitlement of a Team Member at the start of their employment. You can use the new Seniority Settings wizard to add more Seniorities based on lengths of service and edit existing Seniorities.

In addition, the Create Absence Accrual Rule wizard automatically sets values to the following fields:

  • Type: Absence or Vacation, based on which record type has the reason selected for the rule.

  • Pro rata settings:

    • Start Part Period: Full

    • End Part Period: Full

  • Accrual Rules settings

    • Accrue During Paid Absence: Full

    • Accrue During Unpaid Absence: Full

  • Rounding settings:

    • Rounding Mode: None

    • Rounding to Nearest: 0.5000

  • Display settings to enable features for WX:

    • Shr End Balance

    • Show Carry Over

    • Show Time In Lieu

    • Show Rate Per Year Pro Rata

    • Show Accrual Log

    • Show Accrued Total

    • Show Accrued Balance

    • Show Rate Per Year

    • Show Calculated Days

    • Show End Date Provisional

Rules created by the wizard are fully working and can be used as-is. More complex requirements for absence accrual can require you to add values to other fields on the Absence Accrual Rule detail page. If you want to set up accrual using timesheet data, do it on the Absence Accrual Rule detail page.

A Seniority setting created in Seniority Settings has the following value set by default:

  • Rate Base: 0.00

A new Settings summary component on the Absence Accrual Rule page analyzes the Absence Accrual Rule and related Seniority settings within the scope of the wizards and provides a text based summary. If the current settings are inconsistent, the summary points it out.

Before you can use the wizards or view the Settings summary, you need to add action buttons and the summary component to page layouts, and check your HR Administrators have all the required permissions.
