Sage People roadmap overview

The Sage People roadmap outlines our general product direction. It is intended for information and does not form part of any contract. It is not a commitment to deliver any material, code, or functionality and should not be relied upon in making purchasing decisions. The development, release, and timing of any features or functionality contained in the roadmap remains at the sole discretion of Sage.

Release lifecycle

  • Pilot

    An early version of a feature, available to a small number of selected customers for use in non-production environments with the purpose of gathering feedback and confirming assumptions as early as possible.

  • Beta

    An early version of a feature, available to all customers for use in production environments with the purpose of soliciting feedback before general availability.

  • General Availability

    The final version of a feature, available to all customers for use in production environments.

Not all features pass through all phases.

Some features are made available with a feature toggle, a setting that enables or disables the feature for the organization or for a subset of users. This enables customers to trial the feature in a sandbox environment or with specific users. Typically, feature toggles are removed when the feature reaches general availability.

Feature schedules and plans

WX, or Workforce eXperience, is our employee self-service portal. We began to improve the look and feel of the portal in 2023. Through the remainder of 2024 Sage People will be focusing on enhancing:

  • Navigation

  • People Management Workflow

  • Homepage

  • Profile

  • Performance

  • Time Off

  • Org Chart

All enhancements will follow the latest WX 2.0 design and experience principles and will be developed with accessibility in mind. Several of these areas will also benefit from improved page load times and a number of the most requested customer enhancements.

WX 2.0 estimated release and toggle timescales:

  • Navigation General Availability (toggled on by default): Y23.4 - delivered.

  • People Management Workflow General Availability (no UI toggle): Y23.3 - delivered.

  • HR Request process deprecation (process no longer available to use or set up): Y24.2

  • Homepage Beta (toggled off by default): Y23.3 - delivered.

  • Homepage General Availability (toggled on by default): Y24.1 - delivered.

  • Navigation toggle removal - new navigation on, with no option to revert to old navigation: Y24.1 - delivered.

Customer idea: Based on IDEA-I-149

We will be enhancing the reporting capability of WX by adding powerful, interactive dashboards for managers to self-serve their insight needs. This will initially include a headcount dashboard, and a number of reports such as current employee turnover, tenure and more. Additional enhancements will add dashboards for areas such as Time Off and Performance Management.

We aim to significantly improve the experience of our HR Portal by leveraging the latest native Salesforce technologies to improve the user interface, intuitiveness, and discoverability, as well as add the ability to easily get help in the flow of work. Additionally, the areas we focus on will be AA accessible to the extent possible. In FY24 specifically, we will target the setup and maintenance of areas that are either complex to set up, or are changed frequently.

Starting with the UK, we will be upgrading the current Sage People UK Payroll Payflow-based offering to an API integration. The initial release will enable you to send employee data such as salary, bonus, absences, benefit deductions, timesheets, and employment record information to Sage People Payroll, with employee management tasks such as creating, updating, and terminating employees coming in a future release.

To simplify user management for customers, Salesforce has announced that permissions through profiles are moving towards end of life. This means Sage People will be moving away from profiles completely, and will only be managing user access through permission sets and permission set groups. To enable this transition, we will make it easy for permission sets to be assigned to new users, and add the ability to automatically migrate existing users from a profile to the equivalent permission sets.

To keep up with the demands of an increasingly digitized world and a higher volume of larger, more complex data sets, we will be migrating customers from our current SFTP server to a new, enhanced SFTP server with increased availability and better scalability. This migration will happen over the course of FY24 for most customers.
